About the parish meeting

We in Alverton & Kilvington are too small to have our own parish council. Although we are two separate parishes, we have for many years had a joint Parish Meeting. Meetings are held as and when needed, although we try to have at least one a year. We normally meet in the evening at about 7 30 or 8 pm. Parish meetings are legally recognised under the Local Government Act 1972.

Every adult local resident is entitled to attend and vote at a parish meeting. We hope that as many people as possible will attend our meetings. The important thing is that we are a commmunity, to some extent dependant on each other, and that we try to preserve and enhance our amenities and our villages in accordance with the wishes of those who live here.

The chairman is John Gossage (tel 01400 281327 or johngossage@aol.com ) of Kilvington and the secretary is Derek Kennedy (tel 01949 851198) of Alverton. Anyone with any village matters to discuss may contact either of us and is assured of a friendly reception.
