Wind Farm application - Palmers Hollow, Bottesford.

Application refused

The Inspector has refused the developer's appeal and therefore the p[lanning application for a windfarm at Bottesford has been turned down.

The application was made by Ridgewind Limited for a wind farm at Palmers Hollow just north of Bottesford.  The planning committee of Melton Borough Council voted last year to reject the application.  The Council and BLOT (Belvoir Locals Opposed to Turbines) opposed the appeal.

The application followed the rejection after a public enquiry of an application by Infinergy Limited for a wind farm just several hundred yards to the north.  See the map below for general location of both sites - the Ridgewind site is the southern most of the two red areas on the map.  (Click map for a larger image).  It is located approximately 750m east of Normanton, 750m northeast of Bottesford, 750m north of Muston and 2 km west of Sedgebrook.  It is near enough to Alverton and Kilvington to impact on the historic views of Belvoir Castle and the spire of Bottesford Church.

For more information and to read the Inspector's decision, visit the BLOT website at  www.blot-online.org.

For details of the application and access to the public documents relating to it, visit Melton Borough Council Planning.
